Knowledge ≠ Understanding: An Agile Journey

Frank Rios, Agile Transformation Coach & Trainer

About the Topic

Most people have heard of Agile, especially if they work in a software environment, but simply knowing agile, does not mean understanding agile. This Agile primer is by no means intended to give you a comprehensive understanding of what Agile is or is not. The purpose of this session is to help remove any preconceived notations of Agile you may have. Agile is by no means limited to software development, therefore it is applicable to pretty much all areas of work.

Not only will you learn where Agile comes from, you will learn how to apply the Agile mindset to be more productive in your everyday work while using less energy, stress, and effort. You will also realize how difficult it is to change the company culture and what you can do to help with its Agile transformation. Finally, you will realize Agile is not only a new or different way of working, it’s a new or different way of thinking.

Key Learning Objectives
  • The origins of Agile
  • The cost of multitasking
  • Overcoming resistance to change
  • Difference between doing agile and being agile
  • The importance of company culture in an Agile transformation
