  • The QC Automated Testing Engineer III position is responsible for building and sustaining automated test cases, while creating, maintaining, and evolving the automation strategy, as well as related processes and procedures
  • Create and maintain the candidate, entrance and prioritization criteria used to assess systems for application of automation
  • Leverage automation to facilitate functional/regression testing, test data generation, etc. QC department point of contact regarding automation
  • Administration and maintenance of QC systems (e.g., Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Unified Functional Test (UFT)), including compliance with IT change request process and license management
  • Maintain metrics on QC process and results
  • Author and maintain documentation of automated test repositories
  • Provide inputs associated with automation activities to QC Leads for use in QC plans/strategy documents
  • Develop accurate duration/effort estimates for automation activities and delivering to timelines and expectations
  • Responsible for developing, running, maintaining and managing automated functional test cases to validate requirements in an economic and efficient manner
  • Conduct and participate in document reviews, communicate findings and support resolution of those findings
  • Assist with yearly forecasting activities such as providing level of effort estimates for project proposals
  • Direct and review the work of junior automation engineers. Perform coaching and training of less experienced or new team members


  • University degree in the field of computer science, information systems or a relevant engineering discipline. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in the creation and maintenance of automated functional tests for Client / Server, Desktop, Mobile, Hosted and/or Browser based applications, using Micro Focus UFT 11.0 or higher, VBScript, and Micro Focus ALM

  • Experience using various automation frameworks/methods and establishing an automation strategy

  • Good experience with UFT .Net and Web Add-ins, XML, as well as Descriptive Programming, required

  • Proven experience using contemporary testing tools (e.g., Micro Focus ALM and IBM Rational Quality Manager), including defect tracking tools

  • Strong programming skills are necessary to effectively develop and maintain a variety of automated test cases

  • Experience using relevant Windows operating system tools as part of verification activities

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office application suite is preferred. Minimally, an intermediate level of proficiency with relevant office automation software (e.g., MS Word, MS Outlook, etc.) is required

  • Understands relational database theory and has experience using SQL in support of verification activities

  • Knowledge of Active Directory features/concepts such as GPOs is helpful

  • Experience in interpreting use cases, design and functional specifications, while providing feedback relevant to Automation concerns

  • Experience using Virtualization Technology (e.g., VMWare, Client/Server Snapshots and Cloning) as part of a Test Environment

  • Micro Focus Automation Tool Certification a plus
