Board of Directors

    Nancy Kastl, President

    Nancy is an accomplished professional with over thirty-five years of experience as a consultant, director, facilitator, and instructor in software quality and testing. Currently as the Executive Director of SPR’s testing services practice, she provides leadership in testing modernization by optimizing processes, tools, people skills, and organization structures. Nancy is a frequent conference speaker and is the former chairperson for the Quality Engineered Software and Testing (QUEST) conference. She served on the Purdue University’s IT Advisory Committee and the QAI Global Institute’s Certification Board.

    Paul Herzog, Vice President and Interim Treasurer

    Paul is Director of Agile Delivery at Bitovi, a consulting firm headquartered in the Chicago area, with open-source developers, product design, DevOps and Product consultants across North America.  A large portion of his 30 years of experience has been in software test automation and leadership, across industries ranging from telecommunications to defense projects to dental scanners to slot machines.

     

    Dai Whaley, Director of Membership

    Dai a technology leader who is passionate about software quality assurance and aiming to build the right digital products through building the products right.  Dai is currently the Vice President of QA and Test Automation at Applied Systems.  Outside balanced work/life integration, she enjoys family, healthy living, travel, art, and good history dramas.

     

     Mary Jo Zervas, Director of Programs

    Mary Jo started her career as a java developer, but quickly realized testing and quality assurance were her passion and has been a software quality advocate for over 20 years. She has held QA positions at a variety of companies in the Chicagoland area and is currently a Principal Test Engineer at Paylocity. When not searching for the latest software bug, Mary Jo spends time with her husband and son in the Northwest suburbs and is working towards her blue belt in karate.


     Lyle Smart, Director of Communications - Web
    Lyle has over 20 years experience in IT. He started out in the United Kingdom and then moved to the United States, initially as a Systems Analyst at a Chicagoland consulting firm. He then found his calling within the Quality Assurance space and now works as a Quality Assurance and Test Automation Manager (SDET) at Continued, an online education company. Outside of work he enjoys sports, traveling and spending time with his family.
       Joey Figliulo, Director of Communications - Social Media
    Joey Figliulo is the Testing Sales Specialist at SPR Consulting. With a passion for testing and sales he has connected with many like minded people here in Chicagoland and is excited to bring those same connections with CQAA's social media community. Joey was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and looks forward to learning and growing within CQAA.

Available Positions

President
Conducts the business of the organization. Plans Board meetings and activities.

Vice President
Plans projects to fulfill direction and special initiatives of the organization.

Treasurer
Maintains and publishes financial information, and files all tax returns and legally required forms.

Director of Membership
Maintains the CQAA membership database.

Director of Outreach
Makes connections and establishes relationships with corporate sponsors and industry associations.

Director of Programs
Manages the activities required to plan, schedule and conduct programs.

Director of Communications

Facilitates social media and web site content and manages announcements to our members.


Committees

Program Committee

Plans regular schedule of educational programs, Lunch & Learns, and webinars by arranging for speakers and facilities


Communications Committee

Updates CQAA website content, distributes announcements to members, facilitates social media information sharing and discussion, reviews blogs submissions, and solicits industry news for the CQAA web site


Special Events Commitee

Plans and coordinates in-person and virtual events such as meet-ups, dinners, symposiums, and co-sponsored events with other organizations
