Creating Useful Metrics to Provide Quality Software
Helene Astier's, Cars.com
About the Topic
In order to provide quality software, a Quality Assurance Team needs to create useful metrics that span the entire Software Development Life Cycle. Metrics can usually be categorized in three ways - people, process, and technology. People metrics are used to monitor teams, to plan teams, and to measure team productivity. Process metrics evaluate the health of products, the day to day operations and enforcement of processes, and gauge the effect of changing processes. Technology metrics assess the impact of new technology and measure QA automation. During this presentation, you will learn what to measure and why, how to measure it, how to benchmark effectively, and how to spot trends over time. You will also gain insight on how to interpret the results, how to convey the information back to the stakeholders, and how to make metrics actionable and take corrective actions.
Key Learning Objectives
What are good metrics for measuring people, process and technology
How to calculate, analyze, interpret and benchmark metrics
How to ensure metrics are useful to stakeholders
