Parallel Data Testing: The Next Frontier of Quality AssuranceAngsuman Dutta & Tim O'Hara, Infogix
About the Topic
Enterprises routinely convert, move and migrate data from one system to another system. Despite significant investment in technologies and efforts to ensure the quality of data conversions, migration and movement, the trustworthiness of information, at best, remains questionable. While there are a number of tools available for automated testing of the functional and performance aspect of software systems and processes, there are few options available to ensure the quality of the data itself. With appropriate information controls/checks, data testing can be a value added activity for quality assurance functions. Presenters will share a testing framework for ensuring the accuracy, consistency and reliability of the data. This framework addresses the types of checks (e.g. information verification, information balancing, information reconciliation, information reasonability testing etc.) required to prevent and detect data errors during the testing process.
