About the Topic

As quality assurance professionals, designing test cases is our basic craft and bread-and-butter. It’s critical that test cases are designed to ensure test coverage, readability, re-usability, maintainability, scalability and other key attributes. Oftentimes it is not possible to follow test case design best practices due to project time pressures, lack of adequate documentation, or insufficient understanding of the application under test. Agile methodologies with less documentation and sprints allow testing to shift left in test execution, but are test cases adequately designed for in-sprint testing as well as for future regression testing? Good test case design is not going away, period!  

This virtual meet-up is a great opportunity for us to come together to collaborate on test case design best practices.  Here are some details:

•         We will start with a refresher presentation and discussion of test case design best practice. Our goal is to build a checklist of best practices that you can use on your projects.
•         We will have the opportunity to hands-on critique a sample test case (or two) based on our agreed list of test case design best practices. Based on this experience, we may expand the list of best practices.
•         Dependent on the number of attendees, we will split into a few smaller breakout groups for the test case review. We will then regroup to share and discuss our findings from each breakout group based on the time available.
