According to the U.S. Census Bureau 54 million people have a disability. The CDC reports that over 1 million people are blind and 3.2 million have vision impairment. Quality software and websites should not only function correctly, be secured, and perform under normal and peak user volume, but they should also be accessible to individuals with disabilities including vision, hearing and motor skills loss. Tim Berners-Lee, known as the founder of the world wide web stated, “The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.”
If your software is not accessible using various assistive technologies, you may lose customers and be subject to lawsuits. A study performed in 2020 by UsableNet found that lawsuits increased by 23% amounting to almost 10 lawsuits each day. Come join this webinar to learn about digital accessibility and steps that you can take immediately to make your software or websites accessible. You will gain insight to what is digital accessibility, accessibility laws, guidelines, and assistive technologies. Nancy will also discuss how you can test for accessibility and build-in accessibility throughout a project. Begin or enhance your path towards making your software or website accessible to all!
