How to make a TCoE as good as Top Gun

About the Topic

Over the last 10 years or so, reports appear every now and then about how the Test Center of Excellence (TCoE) model is obsolete, doesn’t work with agile, or just doesn’t work at all. Having set up several successful testing organizations myself (some called TCoE’s, some not), I feel it’s too easy to blame failure on the TCoE concept itself, while in my experience, it’s often a range of underlying challenges that contribute to the lack of success – challenges that the proposed alternative solutions (QA Teams, Quality Competency Centers, Centers for Enablement, etc.) may also fall victim to if they are not addressed. This talk will explore some of these challenges, and explore what, if anything, you can do about them

About the Speaker

Jackie McDougall, Trissential

Jackie is a QA Director with over 25 years‘ experience in IT and software testing, who started as a test analyst, then test manager, before moving into consultancy. She has previously presented at the User Conference for Advanced Automated Testing (UCAAT), Scottish Testing Group, and EuroSTAR Testing Conferences, and has published various articles on software testing, business intelligence and test data privacy. She grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, where she attained a Bachelors in English Literature and Language, then a Masters degree in Information Technology. Now living in New Jersey, USA, she enjoys running, drumming, cooking, and reading.
